Drake's Parents
Drake is out of Sunnee (Ch O'rlook's Brown Sugar CD OA CGC TT) and Valor (Ch Beaufield's Valiant Madcap CDX JH WC). Deborah Hughes of Ildanoch Irish Water Spaniels was the breeder. Betty went and saw the litter at 6 weeks of age and when she returned, she told me about this wonderful boy. I wanted a Valor son and I got much more than I ever expected.
Sunnee is the foundation bitch for Deborah Hughes and her Ildanoch kennel. Sunnee is a multiple Best of Breed winner and was ranked in the top 10 IWS for many years. She won Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club show in 2000. Sunnee is OFA Normal for hips, OFA Thyroid normal and Cerf.
Valor was whelped on June 1, 1994 and is the son of Betty's Gallant (Ch Donnybrook Madcap Gallantry UD JH). Valor is a dog that combines substance with elegance, to produce a dog of supple agility and power for one so large. He has a deep body and a perfect tail set with a straight tail. His topline is strong and dead level. His sweeping rear angulation and long upper arm combine to give him magnificent reach and drive, and he has an impeccable rear. His strength is his breed-specific head, with a deep, square, chiseled muzzle, and particularly the clean-planed, high-domed backskull with long, lowset ears. Valor's coat is profuse and dense, with a large-diameter curl and a hard feel. Valor is an agile dog that struts and maintains an exact heel position. He loves to train and likes to heel. Valor is a tender hearted dog who is kind to children, puppies, cats and endlessly patient. Unfortunately, Valor passed away on September 11, 2006. I never knew a person could be so greatly affected by a dog that you didn't own but when Valor passed away, it was like loosing one of my own. He will be greatly missed.
